History:
(NOTE: This is not the complete history of Sidivin, only the general ideas that would be common knowledge to all who know him. To learn the more interesting details, Ask me about them in actual RP).
Sidivin Yahbree does not know his true origin. Born into a wandering family in the wilderness, he was free from all bonds that would tie him to any one country. He lived his early years with his father, Cantius Yahbree, traveling from place to place, never settling in any particular spot for any real amount of time. His Father never treated him with any real affection, and only on rare occasions did they even speak to one another.
Sid never knew his mother. His father told him that she had died of a sickness. She had never been very strong, and it seems that her whole life she was fighting off the same endless illness. It finally caught up to her after giving birth to him, too weak from childbirth to hold off death any longer. His father did not blame Sid for her death; "The wheel weaves as the wheel wills." he would say, but Sid could see that part of his father had died with her.
In the years following her death, Sidivin and Cantius were never apart but never really together as father and son should be. They would go about their lives wandering together through the wild hunting, fishing, and trading furs with the occasional band of Tinkers. During one night a rabid bear attacked the group of Tinkers they were staying with and, fearing for his life and the life of his father, he channelled for the first time. The bear just suddenly burst into flames and died. Of course, not knowing what had actually occurred, Sidivin reasoned that the bear had gotten too close to one of the small cooking fires that dotted the camp. Cantius, however, looked at his son in a slightly different manner from then on.
When Sid was twenty his father grew sick during the winter, and died the following spring. On his deathbed his father had given him one final message: "I know more of what you are than you do yourself. The dark one seeks those like you... do not fall to the shadow..."
During the following year Sidivin met an Asha'man while visitin Tar Valon. His potential ability was soon recognized, and he was enrolled as a Soldier two weeks later. In the Black Tower Sidivin's unique affinity for inverted weaves and other means of sheilding grew until his indoctrination as a full Asha'man twelve years later. His choice of Shen was not a difficult one; he excelled in all forms of shields and wardings and was drawn to the Doon m'Taal.
He spent fourty years perfecting every aspect of his wards and illusions. His weaves were almost never detected, and then only by the most powerfull of Asha'man who also knew where to look. Some said that he could even channel without detection. He soon earned the alias "Grey Man," (owing to his uncanny ability to avoid notice unless he desired it), and those looking for him never found him unless he wanted them to.
Shortly after Sidivin turned sixty-one, the rei al'Doon M'Taal died leaving an opening for him to advance further in the Tower. He was the obvious choice for the post, having more skill with the power than any other in his Shen. To this day, Sidivin is the most skilled illusionist either of the towers has ever seen.
