History:
Kathera was born in Andor, and lived a quiet and calm life before deciding to go to the White Tower. She had learned she was a wilder at the age of fifteen. Her mother, an inn keeper, provided well enough for her little family, two boys and one girl. Kathera grew up sneaking out to tend the horses and being bossed into doing the dishes. Her joy, then, was horses and her mother, Elide, scolded her to no end about being unladylike.
She was the sweetie of the little town, near Andor's border, and was well known as the 'sweet little stable hand'. The townsfolk didn't mind that her father left the town after she was born; some seemed to have forgotten the fact entirely. When she was younger, Kathera used to forget her father's disappearance herself, but as she grew up, she noticed the difference between her family and her friends'.
Bullyboys never bothered her, and Kathera was always well aware of the fact that they respected her only for the black eyes she had given them in the past. The Galwyn family worked together well enough, between the spats of Kathera and her older brothers. Most of the time, Alo and Atreus looked after her in a brotherly fashion, though she never did give them much to protect her from.
The day after her fifteenth birthday was the day she learned that she was indeed a wilder. That day, a peddler came into town with a lame donkey, and bedded down at their inn, the Lost Traveler. Her brother, Alo, was given the task of tending the beast, and succeeded in getting himself kicked in the belly. Kathera came upon him in his wounded state, and unknowingly knelt at his side, taking his head in her hands, and channeled.
After that faithful day, Kathera was no longer the town's favorite girl. Even though they knew of the Asha-man and Aes Sedai, they avoided her. So she lived on, not accumulating a block to the One Power, for she only felt disgruntlement at her neighbor's actions. After all, her family did not seem to care, and that was all that mattered to Kathera.
The people that used to respect her for her talents with horses now seemed to vanish from her life, after the day she found out who she was, she never saw them again. The news spred fast, and not in Kathera's favor, though most channelers were respected. But she lived on, still tending the horses. She only channeled once or twice while she was at home, after the little accident, but it didn't help with how people out of her family now treated her.
On her sixteenth birthday, her mother announced that she was taking Kathera to the White Tower, for she did not approve of the way the townsfolk avoided her daughter. "There, it will be such a commonplace thing, and your life will be all the better for it." So she was shipped to Tar Valon, and left standing, watching the sun fall behind it's white wonder.
Kathera threw herself into becoming Accepted, determined to do her best. Of course, that didn't stop her from playing a prank, earning her a visit to the Mistress of the Novice's office. The novice became friends with Marian, who later became Accepted and then Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah. Kathera did her best to learn about the One Power, and could usually be found haunting the library, looking for books on her favorite subject, the Dragon Reborn. The novice took several classes, determined to learn as much as she could while she was in the tower, as she was unsure about whether or not she would become Accepted, and later Aes Sedai. As Marian was raised to Aes Sedai before she even became Accepted, Kathera was thrown into at state of depression. Later, after having a talk with Marian about continuing their friendship, Kathera once again worked hard to become Accepted, determined to not let her friend down. Her wish was granted, and soon Kathera found herself being led into the bedrock of the tower, for her testing. Surviving the three arches, Kathera earned her Great Serpent ring after seven years as a novice.
