History: Aryatha was strangely tall for being Cairhien, but that, she blames, was because of where she was born, but instead because of her parentage. Her mother, Myara, was from a higher up house in Cairhien and her father from a middling house in Andor, or so her mother said. Her father, Cyril, died at a fairly young age when he fell off a horse and hit his head on a rock. So Aryatha holds no memories of him and considers herself Cairhien instead of Andorian. She, like all other girls growing up in her position, learned certain things. Sewing, court behavior, and the more difficult things such as how to know when someone is lying or reading people's faces to find out what emotion they are feeling. Aryatha, was especially skilled at the last one and she also excelled, so said her mother though it was never a true lesson, at evading the truth. Turning things around so they sounded more in her favor was a simple thing for her and she could only smile when she lead people off what was really going on.
Her mother, not wanting her to be completely spoiled however made her do small chores that other girls her age did not. Chores like keeping her room clean and dusting small fixtures in the house were often on the list, but her mother never pushed it too far. For example, before coming to the White Tower, she had never had to do dishes or sweep floors. Things were generally simple and things passed easily until she visited court for the first time at age sixteen. It had been late introduction, but she was glad that Myara hadn't shoved the date even further than she had. She hadn't cared all that much and she instead focused her attention on how she would act. All of it was too exciting; that is, until she actually got there.
When she had arrived, everything had been as wonderful as she had imagined it to be, but after a while of chatting with a few of the other girls her age, trumpets from outside sounded and it was announced that the King and his advisor would be entering. And, indeed they did for just after the man spoke the words, the doors at the end of the hall opened and as everyone in the room curtsied, an older man stepped in dressed in fine garments followed by a woman in a plainly designed dress. The woman radiated power and Aryatha felt strangely drawn to the woman. It was an odd feeling, but she could seem to shake it. The woman, whom she supposed to be his Aes Sedai advisor, passed her eyes over where she was standing as if searching for something. A shiver passed through her, but she ignored it and stood up to her full height. Sometimes it is a curse to be taller than the rest of the crowed for less than an hour later she was called before the throne. When she stood before the throne, she felt unnerved and like the entire world were watching her.
"Child, are you aware that you can channel the One Power?" The Aes Sedai's words were cold and unfeeling and it took Aryatha a moment to process the woman's words. When she did, she fainted-- something she had not done in years.
She awoke later to find herself back in her own bed and with no one else in the room. Soon though her mother walked followed by one of her maids carrying a bowl of water and a cloth. "Darling dear, are you awake now?" Aryatha just nodded slightly to her. "I need to speak with you about something important." She inwardly groaned. She is going to talk about what that Aes Sedai said. Or asked really. "Now dear, I know you probably don't want to talk about it, but this is a serious matter. You know that Aes Sedai cannot lie and I asked her straight out if what she said was true. You must go to the White Tower. She says you will be strong with training and though I hate to loose you, it will be better for you. Court life isn't for you." How can she say that this life isn't for me? That I should leave everything I know and go live in some place with cold, and uncaring people? How can that be where I bel
ong? Confused and a little hurt, Aryatha discussed with her mother for a few hours before finally giving in to her mothers wishes. If it wasn't right for her she could always do something bad enough to be sent away.
It was months of long and hard travel alone with nothing but a belt knife for protection. Sleeping under bushes and smelling like horse slowly stopped annoying her and she eventually got used to the feeling. Her hands became harder and she knew that there was no going back to court with hands like these. Her mother would have tried to soften them, but after all the cuts and long hours of holding the reigns of her horse, they had become too bad for any cream to fix. No, there would be no running back to court halfway through her training. Not that she really could. She had been told before she left that Aes Sedai always found girls that tried to run and their punishments were always long and difficult.
And that it how she found herself later telling her name to a girl writing names in a book she called the Novice Ledger. It was all still confusing, but she would manage somehow. She would have to. This was her life for now.
Currently-
Aryatha has just come to the Tower and is figuring out quite where she falls into place and is finding that she'll have to change her attitude a little if she wants other girls to like her. This may take time though since she generally sees peasents as people not worthy of being that kind to.
She is also hoping to bring her two roommates under her control which is going to prove difficult with Naishee.
