FAQ
Q1. What is the lowest base strength I can have if I wish to become: a) Aes Sedai? b) Asha'man?
A1 a) 11
A1 b) 21
Q2. I don't get this strength and affinity difference, would you define the words?
A2. Affinity and strength are two separate things. Strength is literary how strong you are in the OP. Affinity is how well you can manipulate a flow (for example Air or Fire). Affinity is not changed over the years nor due to your strength, neither is it affected by angreal or sa'angreal.
Q3. How is my total strength calculated?
A3. For Novices/Soldiers and Accepted/Dedicated it is quite easy. Take the year when your channeler first started to channel and subtract it from your characters current age, add the result of that calculation to your base strength number and the result will be your total strength point.
For Aes Sedai/Asha'man it becomes slightly more complicated. The first part is similar.
Take the year when your channeler first started to channel and subtract it from your characters age when he/she was raised Asha'man/Aes Sedai, add the result of that calculation to your base strength number.
After this you add every year your character has practiced her channeling regularly. Though you can not add more then a total of 50 points to your base strength. If your character has practiced channeling regularly for 50 total of his/her life your character is at his/her maximum.
Q4. Can I go from being a strong character to being a weak character?
A4. Yes.
Q5. Can I go from being a weak channeler to being a strong channeler?
A5. No.
Q6. Will I automatically get my full potential after my characters first 50 years as a channeler?
A6. No. The years as Novice/Soldier and Accepted/Dedicated (unless you run away) are automatically counted as your character will be practicing channeling on a regular basis to learn. However an Aes Sedai/Asha'man doesn't naturally channel to learn on a regular basis. If you wish to add on your strength as Aes Sedai/Asha'man you will have to RP a situation in which the channeler regularly channels throughout the year you wish to add. All these years have to be accounted for in your biography.
Q7. What is the minimum amount of years the strongest channeler has to spend as novice/soldier and accepted/dedicated to get raised to Aes Sedai/Asha'man?
A7. A female with the base strength 45 has to spend a minimum of 16 years in training (not necessarily all those in the Towers, a wilder would get his/her years prior to arriving as points). A male with the strength 72 has to spend a minimum of 0 years in training (strength wise only). A female with the base strength 11 has to spend 50 years in training (and hence can not get stronger) to be raised Aes Sedai. A male with the base strength 21 must spend 50 years to be raised Asha'man.
Q8. If my character has already been raised, I wish her/him to have the same type of strength as before and all that, do I have to change her/his age to fit the new system?
A8. Yes.
Q9. In the table list there is a part called Weaves. It mentions total strength and affinity and there is a short explanation. What is all this about? How is it applied?
A9. Currently there is an ongoing project researching the books for pretty much every weave mentioned in them. This is going to be put up as a dictionary and every weave will get classed according to the weave system mentioned in the table. Right now however this list is not complete and therefore it will currently not affect the RPer.
